About Me:
My name is Kristen Zaleski. I am seeking employment as an early childhood education teacher for the 2016-2017 school year. I am a devoted, creative, and organized educator with a passion for teaching. In 2013, I graduated from Keene State College with a Bachelor of Science degree. I majored in early childhood education with a dual major in sociology. I currently hold a license to teach early childhood, birth through third grade, in New Hampshire and special education, birth to kindergarten/ regular education birth to third grade, in Connecticut.
During my student teaching, I was placed at the Child Development Center in Keene, NH. The preschool uses an emergent curriculum approach and is prized for their nutrition and health program known as, "Early Sprouts". I was able to use innovative ideas that were inspired by the interests of families and children. My second placement was in a second grade classroom in Jaffrey, NH. I utilized Common Core Standards through a variety of manipulatives and smartboard interactive activities. During my student teaching experience, I was responsible for creating and teaching lessons, communicating with staff and parents, writing and leading individual lesson plans, and monitoring student behavior.
After graduation, I started my career as a substitute in New Hampshire. After moving to Connecticut, I became a paraprofessional for a preschool summer program held for students with special needs. I worked 1:1 with a special needs child and was soon hired as a preschool special education teacher for Vernon Public Schools. In my role, I was the classroom teacher, but also serviced the students with special needs as the special educator. I am familiar with IEP direct and use the CT Early Learning and Development Standards when planning and assessing. I am also very familiar with CTPAF and have worked in classrooms funded by head start, PDG, and school readiness. I have been trained through many of these grants and feel that my experience is an asset to any school district.
During my time in Vernon, I had the opportunity to meet Early Childhood Commissioner, Myra Jones, who came to visit my classroom to recognize the early learning program in our district. I also developed a website for the preschool staff across the district to be able to share resources and ideas (www.expeditioneducation.weebly.com). I have completed several trainings, especially in the area of social-emotional development and have the skills to provide a nurturing, safe, and empowering environment.
Please contact me if you have any additional questions at [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you!
